Timaeus
Plato
The Pythagorean Timaeus of Locri expounds the origin of the cosmos: a divine craftsman (demiurge), looking to an eternal model, orders the chaos of a receptacle or space (chora) and produces a living, ensouled world composed of triangles and regular solids. There follow the creation of time as a moving image of eternity and a physiology of the human body. For centuries, in Calcidius' Latin version, it was the only Plato read in the medieval West.
