Paramārthasāra (The Essence of Supreme Truth)
परमार्थसार (Paramārthasāra, también Āryāpañcāśīti)

A poem of some eighty-five verses in āryā metre presenting liberation as the recognition of the self's identity with the absolute, with imagery from Sāṃkhya and Vedānta. Abhinavagupta rewrote it in a Kashmir Śaiva key under the same title.

Authorship note
Ascribed to Ādiśeṣa, the divine serpent of whom tradition makes Patañjali an incarnation; through that equivalence some editors place it under his name. Scholarship regards it as the work of a Vaiṣṇava author of uncertain date, earlier than Abhinavagupta's Śaiva adaptation (10th–11th c.).
