An auxiliary treatise of the Sāmaveda in ten sections on the metre of the Vedic hymns and the structure of the ritual chants (stoma) of the soma sacrifice. It shows that the name Patañjali was attached to several learned disciplines.

Authorship note
The Sāmaveda tradition ascribes this manual to a Patañjali; scholars do not identify him with either of the two main authors, and its date is uncertain.
