Westminster Cathedral Treasury MS 4 (selección del Texto largo)

Estatua de Juliana en la fachada oeste de la catedral de Norwich (David Holgate)
byJulian of Norwich

An anonymous selection, copied around 1500, of passages from the Long Text rearranged by theme and combined with psalm commentaries of other origin. It omits almost all the narrative and keeps the teaching on God's love, prayer and Christ's motherhood, showing how Julian was read at the end of the Middle Ages: as a teacher of spiritual doctrine rather than a visionary.

Authorship note

Not an independent work by Julian but an anthology of her Long Text made by another hand; a witness earlier than the surviving complete manuscripts. Custody: Westminster Cathedral Treasury (London), MS 4.
