Dōgen

A short manifesto in Chinese parallel prose presenting zazen as the universal practice, open to all. It describes the place, posture, breathing and mental attitude —"thinking not-thinking"— and asserts that zazen is not a method for attaining awakening but "the Dharma gate of ease and joy". It is the text Sōtō monasteries recite each evening.
