L'Idée russe

Vladimir Solovyov

A lecture given in French in Paris in 1888 and published that year. It argues that a people's mission is not the one it ascribes to itself but the one God assigns it, and that Russia's is to renounce nationalism and caesaropapism and serve the reunion of the Churches. It provoked the fury of the Russian nationalist press.
