Vladimir Solovyov

A long essay, written as an introduction to his translation of Plato, that reads Plato's work as a response to the death of Socrates: the philosopher discovers the world of ideas but fails to transform the real world, and his life ends in the compromise of the Laws. For Solovyov, Plato's 'drama' is that of idealism without incarnation.
