The Chronicle of Padma (Padma Kathang)
པདམ་བཀའི་ཐང་ཡིག། (padma bka'i thang yig)

A verse biography of Padmasambhava's whole life: birth from a lotus in Lake Dhanakośa, youth as prince of Oḍḍiyāna, exile, years as a yogi in the charnel grounds, the stay in Tibet and the departure for the land of the rākṣasas. It fixed the 'eleven deeds' and the canonical form of the legend, and was for centuries the most widely circulated book about him. It presents itself as dictated by the master himself to Yeshe Tsogyal.

Authorship note
A 'treasure' text (gter ma): Nyingma tradition holds that Padmasambhava taught it in the eighth century, that Yeshe Tsogyal wrote it down in code and that it was hidden to be revealed centuries later by a discoverer (gter ston). For historical criticism it is a composition from the revealer's period. Revealed in 1352 by Orgyen Lingpa (1323–c. 1360) at Yarlung Shelgyi Drak.
