Alātaśānti Prakaraṇa (chapter IV: the quenching of the firebrand)
अलातशान्तिप्रकरण

One hundred verses. It opens with homage to "the best of bipeds" who awakened to the nature of phenomena; it refutes the Sāṃkhya and Vaiśeṣika theories of causation and examines the thesis of non-origination; it compares the experience of subject and object to the figures traced by a whirling firebrand (4.47–52); it distinguishes three levels of knowledge — ordinary, purified and supramundane — and concludes that consciousness does not touch phenomena, something "not taught by the Buddha" (4.99).

Authorship note
The fourth chapter, the longest and the closest to Buddhism. Murti and King consider it possible that it is by another author or an independent work; later Advaita authors hardly quote it.
