Ennead I.3 [20]: On dialectic

Plotinus

It describes the paths of ascent of the musician, the lover and the philosopher, following the Phaedrus, and argues that dialectic is not a mere instrument, as logic was for the Peripatetics, but the most precious part of philosophy: knowledge of beings and their relations that leads to the Good.
