Nightmare Tales

Helena Blavatsky

A collection of occult horror tales. In 'The Ensouled Violin' a virtuoso sells his soul for an instrument strung with human gut; other stories turn on hypnosis, curses and revenge from beyond. They show Blavatsky as a storyteller indebted to Hoffmann and Bulwer-Lytton and have been rediscovered by anthologies of fantastic literature.
